EVERYDAY, THE DISABLED PATRIOT FUND RECEIVES REQUESTS FROM INJURED SOLDIERS FOR HELP.   THEIR REQUESTS RANGE FROM HELP WITH MONTHLY EXPENSES DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND EMPLOYMENT AFTER THEIR RETURN; HELP WITH MAKING THEIR RESIDENCE HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE BECAUSE THEY RETURNED FROM WAR MISSING A LIMB;  HELP WITH PURCHASING A HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY NOW NEED EQUIPMENT ALSO FROM LOSING A LIMB OR AN EYE; OR HELP TO PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE FOR THEIR FAMILY BECAUSE THEIR FUNDS ARE SO LIMITED.

BELOW ARE STORIES OF THE SOLDIERS THAT THE DISABLED PATRIOT FUND HAS HELPED.  THESE SOLDIERS HAVE SACRIFICED SO MUCH FOR OUR COUNTRY!  TAKE THE TIME TO READ HOW OUR SOLDIERS RETURNED AFTER SERVING.  THIS IS WHY YOUR DONATION MEANS SO MUCH!  THE SMALLEST AMOUNT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.  WITHOUT YOUR HELP, THE DISABLED PATRIOT FUND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO HELP OUR INJURED HEROES.

John Gramer – On December 27, 2011, a disbursement was made to Raymond Chevrolet toward the purchase of a vehicle.  Raymond received shrapnel to his right thigh which hit his femoral artery which caused internal bleeding.  He is missing a large portion of his right quadricipe muscle and has permanent nerve damage.

Jacob Edwards – On December 27, 2011, a disbursement was made to Jacob Edwards.  Jacob suffers from PTSD.  Being a medic, Jacob continues to have thoughts of needing to amputate his fellow solder/friends legs which stems from his PTSD.

Adam Bolthouse – On December 19, 2011, a disbursement was made to Adam Bolthouse toward repairs to the roof of his home.  Adam served four deployments resulting in back injury and hearing loss that he experienced from three different IED attacks.

Matthew Berrafato – On December 19, 2011, a disbursement was made to Enzenberger & Mitchell toward the purchase of a vehicle.  Matthew suffers from TBI and PTSD form direct IED blasts.

Amy Hess – On December 16, 2011, a disbursement was made to Amy Hess.  Any suffers from PTSD, depression and anxiety.

David Rosen – On December 16, 2011, a disbursement was made to David Rosen.  David suffers from PTSD which makes working with others very difficult for him.

Shaun Casto – On December 16, 2011, a disbursement was made to Shaun Casto.  Shaun suffers from PTSD and TBI.  He also suffers from a severely injured ankle and has undergone surgery and is currently in a wheelchair while recovering.

Travis Tillberry – On December 1, 2011, a disbursement was made to Travis Tillberry.  Travis suffers from PTSD, MTBI, memory difficulty, back pain and a knee injury.

Khristellen Williams – On December 1, 2011, a disbursement was made to Khristellen Williams.  Khristellen suffers from bulging discs.  Khristellen needed surgery to correct nerve bundles and herniated discs due to carrying full combat gear and her job in the medic field.

Michael Lawson – On November 28, 2011, a disbursement was made to Michael Lawson.  Michael was hot in the eye, which had to be removed.

Josh Misiewicz – On November 18, 2011, a disbursement was made to Josh Misiewicz.  Josh stepped on an IED and lost both of his legs above the knee.

Antonio Martinez – On November 16, 2011, a disbursement was made to Antonio Martinez.  Antonio suffers from PTSD, knee injury, vertebral injury and nerve damage.

Gersom Rosario – On November 16, 2011, a disbursement was made to Gersom Rosario.  Gersom suffers from PTSD, back and neck injuries and a knee injury.

Aaron Hoeker – On November 10, 2011, a disbursement was made to Aaron Hoeker.  Aaron suffers from PTSD.

Josh Marquez – On November 4, 2011, a disbursement was made to Josh Marquez.  Josh suffers from PTSD, headaches and hearing loss.

Shannon Steele – On October 24, 2011, a disbursement was made to Shannon Steele.  Shannon suffers from PTSD, major depression and anxiety.

Christian Beyer – On October 17, 2011, a disbursement was made to Christian Beyer.  Christian suffers from asthma and severe jaw pain caused by stress.

Luis Ocasio – On October 4, 2011, a disbursement was made to Luis Ocasio.  Luis suffers from a brain cyst which developed due to a mortar exploding above his head which causes him to have seizures.

 Jeanne Messner – On September 20, 2011, a disbursement was made to Jeanne Messner.  Jeanne was struck by a ricochet that shattered off her armor and suffered from many broken ribs.

Joshua Gartner – On September 19, 2011, a disbursement was made to Joshua Gartner.  Joshua suffers from PTSD, shrapnel and burns to both legs.

Gabriel Vela – On August 11, 2011, a disbursement was made to Gabriel Vela. Gabriel suffers from a spinal cord injury and TBI.

Joseph Geist – On July 28, 2011, a disbursement was made to Joseph Geist.  Joseph suffers from reflex sympathetic dystrophy, cervical spinal degenerative disc disease, drop foot, severe injuries to both hands, nerve disorder and PTSD.

Lotroi Nickerson – On July 25, 2011, a disbursement was made to Lotroi Nickerson. Lotroi suffers from PTSD, TBI, chronic back pain and headaches.

Thomas Schiller – On July 5, 2011, a disbursement was made to Thomas Schiller. Thomas suffers from PTSD, 3 herniated back discs, migraines, hearing loss and arthritis.

Scott Sincavitch – On June 28, 2011, a disbursement was made to Scott Sincavitch. Scott suffers from back injuries, TBI and PTSD.

Peter Ostrander – On June 7, 2011, a disbursement was made to Peter Ostrander. Peter is disabled from three separate IED blasts. He suffers from TBI, PTSD and a broken leg sustained from the blasts.

Joshua Bierman – On May 31, 2011, a disbursement was made to Joshua Bierman. Joshua was wounded from an IED and suffers from PTSD and TBI.

Joshua Michael – On May 17, 2011, a disbursement was made to Joshua Michael. Joshua suffers from PTSD, back pain, left hand and face injury.

Chris Mortlock – On April 12, 2011, a disbursement was made to Chris Mortlock. Chris suffers from spinal injuries, chronic headaches, vertigo and limited range of motion.

Farcon Washington – On April 4, 2011, a disbursement was made to Farcon Washingon. Farcon suffers from TBI, residual headaches and chronic back pain due to impairment of femur. He continues to work toward recovery.

Michael Kruger - On March 29, 2011, a disbursement was made to Michael Krueger. Michael suffers from multiple brain aneurisms and his surgeon restricted his work status to 35%-55%. Being unable to work, Michael is losing his health insurance and is currently homeless.

Mary Patricia Donahue - On January 3, 2011, a disbursement was made to Mary Patricia Donahue. Mary suffered from a broken ankle and injured hip which now causes her chronic pain.

Michael Carson – On December 20, 2010, a disbursement was made to Michael Carson. Michael became very sick from a series of Anthrax shots. He became very ill and needed to be on bed rest while in Kuwait with no hospitals nearby to treat him.

Odessa Thurman – On November 22, 2010, a disbursement was made to Odessa Thurman. Odessa was injured when hit by a roadside bomb.

Alex Vazquez - On November 9, 2010, a disbursement was made to Alex Vazquez. Alex is currently waiting for the results of possible PTSD.

Joseph Melendez - On November 4, 2010, a disbursement was made to Joseph Melendez. Joseph suffers from a fractured patella and torn cartilage in his left knee.

Joseph Pasternak – On November 1, 2010, a disbursement was made to Joseph Pasternak. Joseph suffers from PTSD, ankle/knee/wrist pain and chronic lower back pain.

Chase Bernardi – On October 25, 2010, a disbursement was made to Chase Bernardi. Chase was a HMMWV gunner and sustained a back injury when his vehicle was hit by an IED.

Jennifer Tario - On October 14, 2010, a disbursement was made to Jennifer Tario. Jennifer suffers from right ankle pain, several fractures, loss of hearing, neck and back pain, migraines, among other injuries.

Jeremy Votaw – On October 12, 2010, a disbursement was approved for Jeremy Votaw toward the purchase of a vehicle. Jeremy suffers from PTSD and leg injuries. He was shot in the quadricep, knee and calf. There is shrapnel fragments still behind his knee cap. He suffers from constant pain in his left leg.

Tim Church - On October 7, 2010, a disbursement was made to Tim Church.

Duane Kozlowski – On September 28, 2010, a disbursement was made to Duane Kozlowski. Duane is a severly impaired veteran suffering from extensive injuries including brain damage due to lack of oxygen after being rescusitated, PTSD, abdominal hemorrheaging, lacerated liver, among other injuries.

Tim Walsh – On August 21, 2010, a disbursement was made to Tim Walsh. Tim suffers from TBI and PTSD.

Ryan Richardson – On August 21, 2010, a disbursement was made to Ryan Richardson. Ryan was injured after stepping on an IED.

Antonio Martinez - On July 30, 2010, a disbursement was made to Antonio Martinez, who was injured while serving.

Anthony Robertson – On July 20, 2010, a disbursement was made to Anthony Robertson,who was injured in Afganistan. The disbursement was to help with travel expenses for his parents to be with him at Bethesda Hospital and also for Anthony to attend the funeral of one of his fallen friends.

David Zeller – On July 14, 2010, a disbursement was made to David Zeller, who suffers from physical pain as a result of combat injury. He is a full-time student and needed help with monthly expenses.

Mark Otis – On June 14, 2010, a disbursement was made to Mark Otis for help with monthly expenses.

Jesse Cottle - On June 1, 2010, a disbursement was made to Bettenhausen Dodge for a toward the purchase of a vehicle for Jesse Cottle. The vehicle was presented to Jesse at the Rockie Lynne Concert on January 23, 2010.

The following is the story of Jesse’s encounter from his CaringBridge website……

On July 19,2 009, Jesse was seriously wounded in action in what is now Zad, Afghanistan while on partrol with his EOD team and a squad from 2/3 G Company. Unfortunately, the Taliban found out EOD were using metal detectors to locate and disarm their IED’s (improvised explosive devices). That said, the Taliban figured out how to make IED’s with no metal in them. During the aforementioned patrol, Jesse was struck by a no-metal-IED and sustained bi-lateral amputations due to the severity of the blast. Jesse’s EOD team quickly rendered aid and med-evac’ed him to a Blackhawk helicopter where he was fown to the hosptial in Bastion, Afghanistan. From there he went to Bagram, Faghanistan, then to Germany and on to Bethesda, Maryland. His medical team there was excellent Jesse successfully made it through six surgeries over his travels. Jesse was then flown to the Naval Medical Center San Diego where is is now going through rehabilitation and prosthetic training.


Kevin Crook - On May 22, 2010, a disbursement was made to Kevin Crook, who was involved in a helicopter crash in May,2006. His injuries include PTSD with major depressive disorder/sleep disturbances, degenerative disc disease with PARS defect, lumbar spine (lower back) pain and herniated disc disease, sleep apnea with asthma, right ankle strain and tinnitus.

Robert Thomas – On April 5, 2010, a disbursement was made to Robert Thomas, who was injured in a IED blast in Iraq. He has TBI and PTSD with severe balance issues.

Jason Wheeler – On April 5, 2010, a disbursement was made to Jason Wheeler. Jason was injured when he fell 50 feet. He lost the feeling of both feet with a condition called RSDS.He is currently wheelchair bound with no feelings from the knees down. Remarkably, Jason particiated in the SSHBA 5K Run in September, 2010.

Brian Brown - On March 7, 2010, a disbursement was made to Brian Brown. Brian was involved in IED blasts and suffers from PTSD.

Patrick Philipps – On February 28, 2010, a disbursement was made to Patrick Phillips for help with expenses. One day in July, 2007, Patrick’s humvee was hit by a roadside bomb. Patrick suffered many injuries and was only one of very few of his squard that survived. He has currently undergone over 10 major reconstructive surgeries.

Chris Rouse - On February 27, 2010, a disbursement was made to Chris Rouse for help with monthly expenses. Chris suffered from a broken knee after jumping from a helicopter in Iraq into a field.Chris also suffers from PTSD, permanent musculoskeletal disease and severe Carpal Tunnel which occurred from jumping out of helicopters.

Raymond Brigman – On February 24, 2010, a disbursement was made to Raymond Brigman toward a down payment on a vehicle. Raymond suffered a fractured wrist, a concussion, severe TBI, severe PTSD, three ruptured disc in his back and arthritis in his back.

Dennis Smutzer - On January 14, 2010, a disbursement was made to Dennis Smutzer. Dennis suffers from TBI and other injuries stemming from combat in Iraq. Since his return home, his injuries have continued to deteriorate. He is now having issues with seizures.

Nick Mapson - On January 23, 2010, a disbursement was made to Nick Mapson. Nick was involved in an IED explosion . He has 30% burns over his body, on face, hands, arms, etc. He also lost part of his left ear and has hearing loss and is 40% blind in one eye. Nick is currently attending the College of DuPage working on a degree in psychology or sociology so he can become a counselor specializing in working with military service members and vets.

William Boyd - In November, 2009, a disbursement was made to William Boyd for help with monthly expenses. William was injured during training. He is a reservist in the Army and his unit is expected to deploy to Afghanistan Summer 2010. William broke his ankle which required removal of bone and pinning with screws.

Derek Beach – In November, 2009, a disbursement was made to Derek Beach. Derek suffers from PTSD resulting from direct combat action. Other issues include digestive problems that the Army stated is also a result of combat action and a musculoskeletal system disease.

Karl Newman - In September, 2009, a disbursement was made to Karl Newman. Karl suffers from shrapnel and TBI resulting from an IED blast. He also suffers from many other injuries such as PTSD, post concussive syndrome, neck injury to C-3 and C-4, also lost of teeth. Karl was an Infantry Marine SSgt until he medically retired in June 2007.

Zaneta Adams – In September, 2009, a disbursement was made to Zaneta Adams. Zaneta fell from a deuce 1/2 ton truck. It was a 10-12 foot fall onto her back. As a result of her injuries and two surgeries, she suffers fro
